1-Thyroid gland is not able to produce enough thyroid hormone

If your thyroid gland works slowly, this can cause chilling because thyroid gland controls metabolism. Blood tests that you take as standard may not exactly show whether you have problem with your thyroid gland or not. After explaining to your doctor and taking detailed tests, you can confirm whether your problem is related with thyroid gland or not.

2-Infectious Diseases

Chilling can be one of the first symptoms of cold, flu, bronchitis and pneumonia mostly seen in winter months. But after that chillling gives its place to shaking, fever and body pain.

3-Iron Deficiency and Anemia

Let’s first explain that iron deficiency and anemia are not the same thing. Iron deficiency is the situation of low ferretin levels, but anemia is a condition in which you don't have enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to the body's tissues. One can be the result of other or there can be no relation between them. Sometimes ferretin level falls but you can see no sign of anemia. And sometimes a person has anemia even with taking enough ferretin. This can be because of low vitamin B12 level, low folic acid level or a disease taht affects blood cells. As we said before if you have low ferritin levels, low oxygen is carried to your body cells and your energy falls and so you chill. If anemia caused by malnutrition, strict diet applications, excessive blood loss or lack of absorbation in digestive system is occured and not treated, the symptoms start with chilling and fatique, easily getting tired and palpitation are added to the symptoms and all of these make your life worse.

4-Hypoglycaemia

Hypoglycemia is a condition caused by a very low level of blood sugar (glucose), your body's main energy source and it causes excessive sweating, fatique and light-headedness. So, it is possible that you can chill when the level of your blood sugar is extremely low.

5-Sleep Less

Regular sleep is indispensable for a healthy life. Insufficient sleep negatively affects nerve system. Sufficient resting helps body to regulate its temperature. The optimal time for sleeping recommended by specialists is 8 hours.

6-Raynaud Syndrome

Raynaud syndrome, also known as Raynaud's phenomenon, is a medical condition in which spasm of arteries cause episodes of reduced blood flow. Typically, the fingers, and less commonly the toes, are involved. Rarely, the nose, ears, or lips are affected. If you have tingle or color change on your fingers while you stay outside for a long time, you can have Raynaud Syndrome. If you both chill all the time and realise that you have symptoms of Raynaud Syndrome, you should see a doctor right away.

7-Weak Blood Circulation (Circulatory Disorder)

Decrease on blood circulation because of constant spasms on arteries is called circulatory disorder. Especially over chilling of hands and feet can be sign of circulatory disorder. If blood is stucked in one region of the body, circulatory disorder occurs. Because tissues that control veins of relaxing and shrinking are mostly in hands and feet, that most common symptom is chilling of hands and feet.

8-Unhealthy Nutrition and False Diets

Taking incorrect nutrition and diet cause not to get sufficient food to our body. And this situation affects our reactions to cold. Body taking insufficient nutrition try to save energy, so it can be easily affected from cold.

What Can We Do Not to Chil?

-Sufficient and healthy nutrition helps us to stay warm. So, we need to take care of not skipping meals.

-Supporting and strengthening our immune system with vitamins prevents us from continuous chilling.

-Sport helps us to protect our heat balance. We should do sport all the time even in winter. Especially you can prefer sports that widen our capillaries such as swimming.

-If your hands and feet are always cold, you can try to take a warm shower before sleeping. Taking bath helps whole body to be heated.
